Scream
I am going to be looking at the opening scene for 'Scream' and analysing the different conventions of genre.
- The scene begins with the sounds of a girl screaming - shows the genre from the start.
- Setting is in her house, the girl is alone and it is night time - her house is in an isolated area.
- Her phone continuously rings, as if she is being stalked.
- The mans voice on the phone sounds very sinister and creepy.
- Sound - enhanced sound effects, diegetic sound of the phone ringing.
- Theme - Stalker/killer movie.
- Characters - the victim and an evil character who is only heard on the phone.
- Camerawork - towards the end of the scene the camera cuts between shots of her and shots of her door, this could mean the man is watching her through the window.
