Conclusion - Opening Scenes

Conclusion of Opening Scenes

After watching five different opening scenes, all from different genres, I noticed that the conventions are all very similar throughout, however they do vary depending on the genre. All the opening scenes have an indication of their genre and a sense of mystery, as you are unaware of what is going to take place after. In the films 'Baby Driver', 'It' and 'Now You See Me' there is a much greater sense of mystery due to the specific genres being horror, thriller or action. All of the opening scenes use different sound effects and music throughout which also signifies the genres. The settings are presented, right from the start, as well as the main characters of the film. However, the mood differs in all the films, for example in 'Toy Story' the mood is very happy and joyful which contrasts with the mood in 'It' which is very sinister. There also isn't a sense of danger in the opening scenes of 'La La Land' and 'Toy Story'.
