Toy Story
I am going to be looking at the opening scene for the film Toy Story, which is an animation/family film, and analyse the conventions of opening sequences.
The scene introduces the main characters, including the boy and his toys. It shows the main character playing with the toys, but doesn't show what happens to them which may influence the audience to want to continue watching. There is the use of different sound effects and non-diegetic music, as well as the main song being played, which sets that the mood is happy and gives an indication of the genre. The setting is displayed; the boys room room and house. Production company names and the name of film are also shown.
